Tuesday, January 27, 2009

Isabelita “sabel” Ogatis was born on August 30, 1984 at the province of Lebak , Sultan Kudarat where her parents resides. After graduated elementary at Pansud Elementary School at Pansud, Lebak, Sultan Kudarat, she stop going to school for three years because of the financial problem.

January 2001, she went to Davao City to continue her study and being a working student, she studied at Assumption College of Davao – Sunday High School Education Program as a high school student and luckily at March 2005, she graduated in the said school.

By the help of an employer, I continue to study in college and enrolled at University of Southeastern Philippines taking up Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. I stayed being a Com Sci student for two years but unfortunately, I realize that this course is not for me or we can say that the course didn’t like me too, so, I transferred to the College of Arts and Sciences at the same school taking up Bachelor of Arts in English.

In spite of all the trials that I encountered for the fast eight years here in the City and without a parents in my side, the only words in my mind is “kaya ko pala”. And living in this world with God our Savior in my life, I feel safe and protected always because I know He’s always in my side whatever I do and wherever I go.

For me, communication is really important to all of us because even in my prayer, I can talk and communicate to God.

Jee-An Sahiri

I was born on a warm, sunny day in September in Davao City. I still live in Davao city, the “Land of Promise” and I go to school at University of Southeastern Philippines. I live with my parents Mr. And Mrs. Habir and Alma Sahiri and my brother, Alvin. My brother is a shy type person but when we are together like all brothers and sisters we fight like cats and dogs. Sometimes when no one was around, Alvin would come up to me and scratch my face using the sharp pointed nails of his cat for no reason. I still love him but only because he is my brother.

Who I am in life.
My name is Jee-An Sahiri. I started school when I was six-years-old. I went to kindergarten through sixth grade in a public school at Teodora Awad Elementary School and while I was there, I join many contests and activities; Beauty Contest, quiz Bee, and cheer dance. And somehow I won those contest some were first award but the rest is just runner-up. When I was already in a secondary level, I attended at Pablo Lorenzo National High School and there I also won a couple of awards: one for the Loyalty Award and for three consecutive years I am awarded as the Stage Performer of our school. But that was seven years ago when I was still active and enthusiastic on school activities. I am now a third-year college in University of Southeastern Philippines. I plan on finishing school and find a stable job that could cater my necessities.

What life means to me.
Life to me means friends and family who you can trust and who trusts you. I am pretty much on the happy side of life, but like all people I do have my "days of." That means I do have some sad days or depressed days. I have a few friends here that sort of look out for me and when I am having a bad day, I have someone here at school to talk to. I make my school days go by thinking of either the next hour or what I will do when I get home or on the weekend. I always keep in mind what Tom Hanks had said in his movie “Forest Gump”; “Life is like a box of chocolate, you will never know what you can get”.

Life is full of surprises, and we must have the optimism in each of us.

Goal in Life
When I was a kid, I have so many ambition that I would like to attain. I want to be a teacher, a lawyer, a doctor, and a first lady of the United States of America. Until one day, I opened our television and there I saw a news anchor reporting on a calamity happened somewhere in Luzon. Upon watching him doing some reporting, I was able to decide for my self that I want to be a part of a public media.

When I was in college, I'm planning to take up Mass Communication but since my parents can't send me to school that could cater my ambition they just enroll me in a state university. I enrolled in AB English since I also have a passion for language. When I was already in third-year second semester, I was so happy and anticipated towards our subject Mass Communication. I thought I have all the knowledge within this subject and that I can do great. I was overpowered with my confidence, thus let me realize that I have so much to learn regarding on this matter. And I firmly believe that there is always room for improvement and self-discovery. It will take quite some time for me to become the person I idolize. Which keeps me to persevere and eager to learn more.

What's my outlook on the future.
The year 2010, hopefully, will be the year of my graduation day in college. I think I will probably be still living here in Davao . I will be quite comfortable with my living situation, meaning that I will be married to a guy whom I really love. We will have twins; a boy and a girl, both charming and a little devil. I will be a good mother to them and a responsible wife to my husband. However, even if I am already married I will still accommodate the needs of my parents.

Alda Julie Yu

My name is Alda Julie O. Yu, they used to call me Julie. A twenty one years old girl, who lives peacefully with her family at Jade Valley Homes Buhangin Davao City, Philippines. I am third year student at the University of South Eastern Philippines taking up Bachelor of Arts in English. I am a person, who thinks positively about everything. I love to hang out with my friends, but what keeps me busy now is my studies and work. Sometimes, when I have my free time I took a seat in our couch and enjoy my favorite shows in the television. I am fond of watching educational, variety and game shows. It is not only television that keeps me updated, I also learn to browse on the internet to gather information about our assignments in school and search for what is latest.

Communication is very essential to us, I grow up with my family who are dependent to mass media that gives them the latest news not only in town but also to the whole world and it entertains them also. Through radio me and my family listen to music that give us time to bond. My mother read the news paper daily and my ate for the issues and articles in women’s magazine.Though we now that it can also contribute bad effects I believe that it helps us evolve together with the society.

Princess dela Cuesta

My beginning as a legally recognized individual occurred on October 21 ,1988 in Nabunturan in Northern part of Davao, by the help of a midwife who I never have the chance to meet in person. Of course I can’t consciously remember anything from the first two or three years of my life after birth.

My father, for whom I have come not to remember to witness his 37 years of existence, was once the best electrician in the town I grew up. My mother is presently a freelance cook. I have four siblings whom already finished their tertiary education and are all busy facing their own real life battle.

We moved to the city of Davao the time when my dad passed, for we cannot survive to an isolated place where the chirps of the birds were always present.

I went to a public school, adjacent to were we once lived, in my elementary level .A school in which there was no enough facilities for the students like library. And also, there no books available in our house that can be used as remedy for that situation. But there was a big bus that would always came to our school to let us lend some used books.

The time I entered my secondary education, Daniel R. Aguinaldo High School was my only choice. It was a school where almost everybody from town I lived studied. This school was my very means to discover what I really wanted for myself. Friends and teachers were also the factor to help motivate more myself and my capabilities. For these reasons, I ended my high school with awards worth to be proud of to my kindest mother.

With the helped Nogales’ scholarship, I made it possible to enter my college and to take the course I dreamed to be. Presently, I am a third year student in the University of the Philippines, taking up Bachelor of Arts in English, which I learned to love and appreciate. Language might be very easy to say but very complicated to explain.

Because of the course I am taking, I have come to encounter different field of language, be it in theories, application, and communication. It also develops my skills in writing and talking in private or in mass.

I am hoping that I will be able to finish my chosen course with all the appreciation and learning, regardless of the honor that I am sure I can’t achieve. The gift of learning is what matters to me most.
